Most of the time, I really love that we have trams in my city and I enjoy using them. Apart from on a Friday night. Last Friday's will def haunt me for a long time.

Oh my life! This isn't going to actually help. We know kids need to develop their literacy and reading skills in school. How about actually doing something useful...as in, handing schools some £ for library books and an experienced librarian?
Exclusive: The government plans to introduce a mandatory reading test for year 8 pupils in its upcoming schools white paper, amid fears poorer children are disengaging in the early years of secondary school

For a book that was originally published in 1976, this story hits hard today. This is a dense, impactful read about women, mental health and society (utopia). Blew my absolute socks off! And am gutted I left it so long to read it.

Three animated comedy series I regularly go back to are; Bob's Burgers, Archer and Futurama. If you haven't seen them, you're really missing out.

I am one of the 14 authors who chose to leave the Polari Prize, and I find myself frustrated and saddened at the way this entire story has been represented. 1/

Do you even work in education if you don't have a zillion pins attached to your lanyard?

Slowly being added to until the weight of it becomes unbearable and you have to have a pin amnesty/rearrangement?

Today's Saturday night movie was Cloud. A Japanese 2025 film about the world of e-commerce; story of a greedy online reseller who gets in over his head. Not bad. About half an hour too long though imo.

“When you walk into the library, you should be able to find at least one thing that pertains to you,”

This librarian was fired when she was just doing a hell of a good job. Kids get to be inquisitive about the world, including about who they are. Trans kids exist.

Libraries are all about inclusivity and should provide diverse reading materials, in many different formats, in order to fully meet user needs. Audiobooks are incredibly accessible and powerful reading mediums. They deserve a seat at the table.
Just been championing audiobooks on The Today programme. No surprise to those of us with dyslexia children or parents with poor eyesight. Nor to anyone that works with vulnerable readers. Or good readers like me who just love them. Close your eyes and listen or vacuum or drive. Brilliant.
