at the very least this has demonstrated that the entire idea of a meritocracy is clown bullshit for dummies
Something that’s so striking in these emails is how…unimpressive Epstein is. He comes off as a pompous, sub-literate lech. Yes everyone is so mortifyingly solicitous of him! All fawning and flattery! Why?????

I had some thoughts about people saying that "debate me bro" trolling is somehow the height of democratic discourse.
The “Debate Me Bro” Grift: How Trolls Weaponized The Marketplace Of Ideas

Among the attempts to create hagiographic eulogies of Charlie Kirk, I’ve seen more than a few people suggest that Kirk should be respected for being willing to talk to “those who disagree with him” as a sign that he was…

While Republicans are endlessly lecturing everyone else about civility and respect, part of civility and respect is following rules and norms, but the median American is 38 years old and in their lifetime Republicans have never let rules and norms stop them from doing what they wanted to do.
🚨 John Thune just hit the nuclear button.

The Senate is voting NOW on whether to change the rules and vote on nominees in blocs, rather than individually. The goal is to speed up Trump's nominees. It needs a simple majority to succeed.

I would like to reframe this as, "Even the Washington Post supports the most aggressive gerrymandering possible, done at any point in any election cycle, so that is now the moderate centrist approach, and there is no excuse whatsoever for Dems who oppose doing it."

Also the condescension of framing how progressives might treat right wingers as “snubbing,” as if it’s always the case that liberals have more cultural capital/power.
Wild that right-wing families somehow aren’t to blame for their longstanding and systematic snubbing of queer and lefty children.
