Anglican (TEC) but not Reformed. Software developer. MSIS student, Drexel University. BA, Colgate University (English, Phil & Religion). Probably far too enamored of Nietzsche and Wittgenstein. I don't believe in personality types but am so INTP it hurts.
And being found in human form, the Incarnate God humbled Christself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. youtube.com/watch?v=CSDG...

Considering that math was supposed to be the one thing computers were very good at, it strikes me as ironic just how bad generative AI is at simple arithmetic. I understand why (it doesn't actually understand that it needs to do math) but it still amuses me.

Lord, hear our prayer.
A pro-life party would make arrangements for unwilling parents to deposit children at a hospital, anonymously, where they could be cared for. JFC, this country and our lack of social contract.

More evidence that, in fact, we hate our children, as @profgalloway.com suggests.
At least 18 babies have been abandoned in Texas this year, up from 7 a decade ago. The latest, just before Christmas, was found dead in a toilet at a Whataburger in San Antonio. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/...

I feel like everyone either overinflates the value of soi-disant "job creators" or else denies their value entirely (I'm not saying the quoted post is doing this). The truth most likely is somewhere in between.
Drinking their own Kool-aid here.

“Job creators” completely misunderstand where value comes from in a company (almost never from the top down).

The first point--that image generators are being trained on copyrighted images that the owner of the generator doesn't own--strikes me as valid.
At this point it’s been said in a hundred different ways, so I think people are being intentional about not getting it.

OPINION: The purpose of Trump’s policies and rhetoric is not to solve problems; it is to create unity among his supporters. This was what I thought of as I watched “Wicked,” a remarkable parable of how scapegoating works.
The new movie 'Wicked' is a parable of our politics of scapegoating
(RNS) — The Wicked Witch of the West is scapegoated by a wizard, who is powerless but knows that hate is a powerful political tool.

Yes, this means loli, shota, guro, incest, noncon, and so on. You don't have to like any of it personally. Hide it, block it, mute it, whatever. But you should stand up for their right to exist because it is not possible to draw lines with icky fiction that couldn't be used to hurt innocents.

Let's make this clear: if you claim to be leftist, pro-LGBT, pro other minorities etc, then you MUST stand up for freedom of artistic expression, which means defending the right for legal but icky art to exist. Not doing so directly empowers the worst kind of actors wishing to eradicate minorities 🧵

I admittedly haven't seen everything that Marvel had produced post-Endgame, but Winter Soldier is still the best Marvel movie I've ever seen. The fact that so many people put Thor: Ragnarok above it is just embarrassing.
watching CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER for the first time in a minute and yeah, this is still in the top 5 of everything that has come out of marvel studios

The problem, and forgive me if this is obvious, is that "a coalition of the antisystem" can be formed to get rid of the incumbents, but it's fundamentally incapable of governing, at least in a way that respects all of the diverse membership of the coalition.

Left-liberalism, right-liberalism, and libertarianism are all developments from classical liberalism, and the original classical liberals would, I think, find them all equally shocking and familiar.

You have no idea how distressing I find it that when working with databases the plural of index is indexes and not indices like in normal English.

If your definition of the political center puts 95% of your county to the right of center (or to the left of center), then your definition is stupid. Worse, it's dishonest.

The Black Run is at risk of being devastated by a proposal to bulldoze the headwater forests of the watershed and replace them with hundreds of McMansions.
