I can tell you this: Based on multiple tabletop exercises with local municipalities around Massachusetts- No, they are not prepared. No matter what you hear. Local EM capacity is not up for it.
Insurers plan for 1-in-200-year storms. Why don’t governments?

If a Melissa-level hurricane hit the Northeast, would we be ready? New column looks at climate whiplash, risk, and what real preparedness means.

Insurers plan for extreme events that could crater their solvency. Shouldn’t all levels of government do the same?

Sorry to contribute to your doom scrolling but my God, this is terrifying. No one should have to experience seeing the words "Doobie Brothers" on their credit card statement.

She was charged $1,780 for Doobie Brothers tickets she didn’t order. Her credit card refused a refund. - The Boston Globe
Megan Reilly Padilla had never even set up an account on StubHub, but her Chase card held her responsible for the charges on the ticket resale site.

Kenny reminds me how undemocratic the Providence mayoral election is. The current mayor won with only 42% of the *primary* vote, only 21% of voters voted in the primary, and there was no opponent in the general. Would RCV make this fairer @rebeccakislak.bsky.social @samghoward.riliberator.com?
Originally thought that David Caldwell was going to win the Providence City Council Ward 2 Dem. primary because in 2022, most of the East Side voted for Smiley for mayor! Caldwell emphasized that he would be a strong ally to Mayor Smiley if elected so yeah...

The last time Arsenal gave up a goal I had hair.
Arsenal have now gone 776 minutes without conceding in any competition. The last player to score against them was Newcastle's Nick Woltemade in September.

This doesn't get talked about enough.

California has about 40 million people and the 4th largest economy in the world.

The amount of battery capacity added to their grid has doubled in past two years, solar has increased by 43% and methane burning for electricity has gone down by over 40%. 🔌💡

Please let oil pieces go down because of falling demand. Good for climate, bad for Russians massacring Ukrainians.
"The global oil market may be at a tipping point as signs of a significant supply glut emerge" writes the IEA.

Tepid demand due to "subpar economic conditions, increasing vehicle efficiencies, & robust electric vehicle sales in many markets." 😮
