We have been connecting Londoners for over 900 years, the way they travel across our bridges just keeps changing!

Medieval seals from our 900-year-old archives!
Medieval seals! 🦭

In our Bridge House Estates collection, we hold some remarkable examples of personal seals used by medieval women to authenticate documents. Some of the most commonly used motifs or designs were radial devices, stylised lilies, birds, and full-length standing women.

Did you know that there has been a London Bridge for almost as long as there has been a city of #London? The first bridge was erected over 2,000 years ago, with successive bridges built by the Romans, William the Conqueror and King John.
