Your overwhelm is the goal. The 200+ executive orders in Trump’s first days exemplifies @naomiaklein.bsky.social’s Shock Doctrine using chaos and crisis to push through radical changes while people are too disoriented to effectively resist.

We had to get in on the video action too — Bluesky now has custom feeds for video!

Like any other feed, you can choose to pin these or not. Bluesky is yours to customize.

In the meantime, try @bookmarks.bluecanary.dev .

You report a post to it to add to your bookmarks, and report again to remove.
It exposes a feed of your bookmarks back to you that you then pin to your blueaky feeds lists
Works well for me. No silly public pushpin emoji.

Everything you know about wrinkly fingers is probably wrong. Particularly, it is not a physical act of water on the body, it is a neurological effect of the body on itself. People who have fingers with severed nerves do not prune on those fingers.
@hankgreen.bsky.social do my dogs toes get wrinkly if he’s in the water for too long? Are humans that spend a lot of time in water less likely to wrinkle? Is there a scishow video on this that I missed?

In the past month alone, over 12M people joined Bluesky, with daily active users growing 10x. We received more reports in two days than in all of last year, and have integrated new systems and quadrupled our moderation team to try and keep up. Sometimes, we have to work quickly to correct errors.

The deep goal of bluesky is to decentralize the social internet so that every individual controls their experience of it rather than having it be controlled by 5 random billionaires. Everyone thinks they signed up for a demuskified twitter...we actually signed an exciting and bizarre experiment.

While Bluesky looks like other social apps on the surface, it’s actually quite different. It’s an open network.

By popular request, here's how to add Bluesky replies as your blog's comment section!

This requires some technical know-how for now, but I'm hoping that we see some no-code solutions for this pop up soon, like Ghost or Wordpress plugins.

saying “don’t be evil” doesn’t mean anything if we can’t hold them accountable for it

*everything* we do is open source — the code for both the protocol & the social app is public. if we ever went rogue, people could take the reins from us easily

the internet is not separate from real life at this point — i’ve spent too many years on various platforms making real friendships, finding jobs, etc to believe that distinction

so our social identities & relationships online should be under our own control, not a private company’s

one of bluesky’s mottos is “the company is a future adversary,” so we have to design this service in a way that preserves user choice & freedom

users should own their data, identity, and relationships on the social internet, and devs should never get locked out of the ecosystems that they build
