Warhol superstar Mary Woronov, known for her sangfroid in the midst of the nutty Factory denizens, was BOTD in 1943, turning 82 today. She went on to have a cult movie career after her Warhol days and also wrote one of the best books about the Factory, "Swimming Underground"

It has also been terrible for consumers, which we used to call audiences
Opinion: Netflix did not invent the world of streaming, but it is the most successful operator in this new dispensation. However, it remains to be seen whether its success in knowing what its customers want to watch can be matched by an enduring ecosystem for creative talent. on.ft.com/48FvQul

A whole lot of not thinking things through with this policy.

Pretty much assumes everyone is a middle-upper class white, straight teenager with no issues living in a city

Do these guys know that people who use these toilets need to sit down????? Sometimes there are even diagrams instructing us how to do so!
Yet another toilet cubicle on my university campus that was clearly designed by a man. You can barely avoid touching the sanitary bin. This one had a bonus accessibility issue of a paper dispenser that's trying to attack my face!

My full list of 44 films noir I watched this Noirvember. I feel insanely busy but I must have a nice life that I can watch so many movies.
Noirvember 2025
The films I watched for Noirvember 2025, in order. Some of these might not be explicit in their noir mode, but if watched with the specific angle, then I count them here.

This one of many reasons why critics are still important. It’s our job to seek out art that’s outside the algorithm, because most people don’t even know what their options are anymore.
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

This essay by @naomiaklein.bsky.social is fantastic. It's urgent. You should all read it.
Surrealism Against Fascism • EQUATOR
A century ago, artists who survived the trenches captured humanity’s capacity for destruction. What can they teach us about confronting the far-right in a new age of genocide?

Everyone talks about Gene Tierney's sunglasses, swimsuits, and ice blue slippers in LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN - and rightly so - but it's really all about her exquisite salmon pink wide-leg slacks. These are perfect in colour, form, and execution. And I want a pair!

The AI bubble may be about to bust.

Peter Thiel has sold all of his Nvidia stock.

We all need to say this very clearly:

NO BAILOUTS FOR THEFT-TECH!

Expropriate their asses instead.

They stole from all of us and fully plan to burn the planet.

They owe us - not the other way around. 1/3

A controversial category; here's some great neo-noirs for Noirvember.
Top 50 Neo-noir (post-65, arguably)
