I did not care for Fantastic Four at all.
I found it completely lacking in feeling, with thin characters (and annoying performances,) dull villains, and a rote whiz bang ending without impact. The retro-futurism and score are good, but they’re wasted in service of mediocrity.

James Gunn’s Superman is a joyous, earnest, vitally optimistic superhero movie. It overflows with color, personality, and delightful corniness. The action is spectacular. David, Rachel, and Nic are perfect. An incredibly fun, smartly relevant film that oozes humanity. LOVED it!

James Gunn’s Superman is a joyous, earnest, vitally optimistic superhero movie. It overflows with color, personality, and delightful corniness. The action is spectacular. David, Rachel, and Nic are perfect. An incredibly fun, smartly relevant film that oozes humanity. LOVED it!

The Monkey is wildly entertaining and delightfully brazen. Perkins continues to cement himself in horror lore; the craft here is fabulous. So violent, hilarious, and perfectly paced. Theo James excels playing dual roles. Its thoughts on death and family are fascinating.

Paddington in Peru is not without its charms - Olivia Colman is wonderful, there are some laughs - but it’s a sadly mediocre sequel lacking in wit and warmth. The jungle adventure plot is dull and rote, and Banderas’ character and performance are ghastly. A shame, indeed.

Just re-watched Paddington 2. This is legitimately one of my favorite movies. It’s perfect. And ever so briefly, my soul is healed.
Brave New World is so frustrating because Mackie is a great Cap and deserves better. But the movie around him is disjointed, overly-expository, and unfocused. A dull, annoying mishmash that feels held together by safety pins and Hulk BS. Lumbly is MVP but this movie is very bad.

I love Josh Ruben, I love slashers, and I adored Heart Eyes. This is a potent and wildly enjoyable cocktail of horror and romcom, with inventive and gory kills, likable characters, and an iconic new killer. It has so much zip, wit, and personality. A bloody joy.

I am done putting a single ounce of my energy out towards people I get even less than that back from. It’s a cruel, tough world, and at a certain point my kindness is not just up for grabs for everyone to take advantage of.
