This week the United Nations will negotiate a global treaty on #PlasticPollution. DSE's findings in @science.org revealed that by 2050, key policies could:

♻️ Reduce mismanaged plastic waste by up to 91%
🌞 Cut associated greenhouse gasses by 1/3

So exciting to have McKalee join our team this year. Her expertise on data science, and Indigenous Data Sovereignty (IDS) has been instrumental for our work.

If you work in IDS - especially Indigenous environmental stewardship and biodiversity monitoring - please reach out!

The DSE effort is a highlight of my career. We bring the best of university-based scholarship, real engagement with stakeholders, and a commitment to impact through open science practices, to have impact in multiple ways.

Huge thanks to our funders, supporters, and team (who do all the work!)
We're thrilled to share DSE's 2024 annual report! 🎉 Check out our team's recent successes in #DataScience & #EnvironmentalScience, including new #AI tools to support #wildfire recovery and end global #PlasticPollution.

For past 2 years I have been working at the intersection of biodiversity monitoring & Indigenous data sovereignty.

Last month Magali de Bruyn on my team at DSE (@schmidtdse.bsky.social) attended COP16 & we organized a sessions related to this work.
