Farage the politician *is* Farage the schoolboy losing his shit over seeing the name ‘Patel’ on the school roll and telling black pupils to go back to Africa. There’s really no difference. Except now he wants (and may be bought) the power to deport those people.
It’s not the past. It’s now.

The exact people now saying "Nigel Farage was young and foolish at school" (to excuse his racism, bullying and harassment of fellow pupils at Dulwich College) are the same people who said "Shamima Begum was old enough to know what she was doing".

You might think that the "Labour" Party would consider labour itself to be a contribution to society, alas no, only "having lots of money" is a real contribution.

Perhaps they need to change their name to the Capital Party?

for all the sanctimonious posturing about "hard choices", they're unwilling to confront the choice that's defined British politics for a decade:

we can get the economy back on track, or we can continue to chase nativist sentiment

but not both

"immigration has to go up for our growth goals, but our policy is to bring it down"

uk politics in a nutshell
There is an actual interesting little deceit in the budget, namely ther have the OBR still forecasting based on increasing net immigration back to 300-350k whilst the Home Secretary is promising to bring it down from 200k, which does dissolve about half the headroom, but somehow we're doing vibes.

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

If Trump and Musk had a falling out, and if Musk is no longer involved in politics, why is the Trump admin using levers of US foreign policy to get Musk’s company out of well deserved fines?

This is the moment, Europe. Stand up for yourself, your laws, your freedom against foreign interference.

Looking forward to more thoughts from Belgium on why freezing Russian assets is an escalatory move that might compromise the peace process.

I'd add that the BBC fails to note the most important factual point -which is that the vast majority of these kids are here because their parents moved here entirely legally, mostly or work.
This article is like a case study in the media normalisation of the far right.

The bulk of the article analyses stats to ask whether Fash Farage is technically correct, when the real issue is his repulsive racism.
