It's a little early but I'm throwing this out there...any Buffalo bicycle folks want to form up with @christinelsloc.bsky.social and myself for Cranksgiving on 11/1 and do the food scavenger hunt to benefit Food Not Bombs?

We are a solid 2 person team but could use 2 more! 🚲🍂

As a kid growing up Catholic, I usually left church feeling defeated inadequacy- I had internalized the necessity of being a type of perfect I could not be.

As an adult who is UU, I most often leave church with a desire and way to become better, but a starting point that my flawed self is worthy.

Like 5 Republicans in Congress could stop this, or at least muck up the works. But it really feels like they all want it.

Note this is from last week but I just heard about it. All these stories and videos of ICE acting like rogue thugs are really, really disturbing.

More than 1800 detainees are missing after the closure of Alligator Alcatraz. Their families and lawyers can’t find them and they’ve vanished from the ICE database. Feels like this should be a much bigger story www.miamiherald.com/news/local/i...
Hundreds of Alligator Alcatraz detainees drop off the grid after leaving site
As of the end of August, the whereabouts of two-thirds of more than 1,800 men detained at Alligator Alcatraz during the month of July could not be determined by the Miami Herald.

Governments dont give you rights. You have them from the start BECAUSE you are you. Government's only job is to protect them. And if they dont, your job and duty is to replace it.
lotta people lamenting the rights allegedly enshrined in our constitution, but unfortunately, this moment is a reminder that rights are fought for and won — often times in spite of the constitution or interpretations of it
Comrade @siobhan-m.bsky.social goes through the history of US civil rights cases, arguing that our rights do not arise from legal structures but from successive generations of political struggle
