What's a really minor thing that makes you irrationally grouchy? Mine is cooking videos where the person is wearing long sleeves and/or has long hair that's not tied back. Your sleeve is touching the onions while you chop them! Your hair in the soup! No one cooks like this! Chaos.

I can not wait to see this book in person. The story I wrote for this anthology was both painful and cathartic to write. Thank you so much @christinamyers.bsky.social and Oga Nwobosi for selecting my story for Beyond Blue! And thank you @caitlinpress.bsky.social

There are a few very exciting milestones in bringing an anthology to life: when the submissions start rolling in, when you get to to tell the contributors their work has been accepted, etc. But the one that makes it feel really really real? Cover reveal day 💙 @caitlinpress.bsky.social

My friend and co-editor Oga Nwobosi and I have been quietly working away on this over the last year: 26 essays from writers across Canada on their experiences in perinatal mental health/PPD-A. Arriving this autumn and pre-orders now open.

I have been, like most people, following everything the last few weeks at the level of fine minutiae: not just news reports but individual accounts from friends in the US, or from posters on bluesky, reddit etc. I have always been a news person, but in times of uncertainty it ramps up to a ... 1/4

The thing that continues to baffle me is the earnest "well, he can't do that, it's unconstitutional" as though there isn't a long line of dictators in history who came into power in a place with laws and rules, and then ignored them entirely. There's no magic wand in a law.

Folks, I don't intend to post about every single horrible thing that's happening at the moment because I'm not a direct news source and also because my mental health has an upper limit. Don't confuse lack of obsessive news updating for lack of concern or lack of personal action. Also, here's a cat.

A reminder that books by Canadian authors published by independently owned Canadian presses are almost always printed in Canada. The GST holiday ends on Valentine's Day so show #CanLit some love and head out to your local independent bookstore this week or next.❤️📚
