Finally got to see @dannyrobins.bsky.social ‘s 2:22 tonight. This completes the (un)holy stage trio of Woman In Black & Ghost Stories that I’ve taken (dragged?) my chums to over the last couple of years… and this last one was fantastic. Incredible play and excellent to watch with a live audience! 👻👻

Anxious (!!!) playing Dust in Brighton at 1am on a Saturday night (ahem, Sunday morning). What. A. Show. Amazing.

21 years after getting lost on LA public transport and missing their show, I FINALLY saw hellogoodbye live. They were freakin’ rad. Bought Forrest a double brandy. Did a dance. Got a signed LP. ❤️ (Vinnie Caruana was also ace - what a voice! - and obvs. Armor For Sleep smashed it!). #brighton

Visited my dear chum Rash at his brand new record shop Dream Street Records today. It’s slap bang in Brighton’s North Laine and - as Rash so eloquently describes - “celebrates the significant, sometimes life-saving role that pop has played for generations of LGBTQ+ people”. dreamstreetrecords.co.uk

My pal @carlaspeedmcneil.bsky.social asked me why there are no clear villains in Ghibli films, and figured I would share my answer with everyone:

In Japanese folklore, all things are double-souled. They have an aratama (rough soul) and nigitama (gentle soul). (1)

At a Buffalo Tom gig at Town & Country in London in the '90s, J Mascis was hanging w/us in the dressing room in his typically laconic way. But then George Wendt popped his head in to say hello, J rose out of his chair and exclaimed, “NORM!” I've never seen him as animated before or since. RIP NORM!

This beauty arrived today. 20th anniversary pressing! Gah, to be young again!

Started yesterday by taking the kids to see Flow (❤️🐈‍⬛) at the cinema; ended yesterday in a pub watching a man channel the energy from a medieval skull found in a badger’s sett into a modified dowsing rod. Standard Easter holiday fare.

The dark side of the Moomins...

Tove Jansson’s beloved stories, which turn 80 this year, are not cute: they are angry tales of apocalypse and breakdown.
