Author of the novel 'A Blade For Hire'. Sequel... getting there. Probably only another chapter to go.

Looking for a bit of swashbuckling fantasy for your next autumn read? Fancy a change from the medieval stuff to some matchlock fantasy? Something a bit like 'The Three Musketeers', if d'Artagnan was actually John McClane? Then check out my first book 'A Blade For Hire'.

I find it funny when accounts announce their social media break, and then they're just back the next day all, "Woo, I'm so refreshed!" like wat? That's not a break. 😆

Tragic that Arthurian Legend was situated in Britain rather than Italy, as the Round Table would have been ideal for pizza parties. (One very large pizza in the middle.)

I set a new PB since my heart attack 18 something months ago. Help me celebrate by buying my books. You might ask, but how are they connected? To which I say... uh... profit?

At times I love social media and talking to all these awesome people from across the globe I would never otherwise meet, but all the engagement bait bollocks kicking around is really starting to grind my gears.

Was thinking yesterday how virtually impossible it is to describe certain things. I'd been running along the seafront, cloudy, bit of rain, wind lashing the water against the sea wall and throwing up white spray, and there just isn't the words to describe how invigorating that feels.

Accurate AF.

It's Sunday so what do you want to see? Dialogue? Snippets? Questions? A thinly-veiled desperation masked only barely by memes? Doodles?

You know an idea for a new WIP is coming together when you sit for several hours working enthusiastically at it and eagerly adding in little details and extras.

"With Hale, Chris builds a supremely likeable character... a big heart, a big sword, a practical view to solving problems (bold action), flaws and a sharp wit that shines through out the pages in wonderfully constructed dialogue."

The Man With The Broken Sword Christopher D. Brand — SFF Insiders
Pick this on up, a pleasurable quick paced tale that is difficult to turn the lights off on. A swashbuckling low magic ride that I didn’t realize I needed.

It’s National Author’s Day. A lot of people say these words. “I could write a book. Anyone can do that.” And yet, it’s only a tiny percentage who actually complete one.
Here’s to the authors. We need creativity/art/escape more than ever.
Well done you! You are appreciated.🥂❤️

October was quite a miserable sales month for me. Too busy working on background stuff to do much marketing. So on that note...

If you're looking for some dark swashbuckling fantasy then have I got a thriller for you, free to read with Kindle Unlimited:

"Your first draft is SUPPOSED to be terrible!" is itself terrible advice. It's ok for it to be messy. Very messy even. But if it's terrible then something is going horribly wrong with your planning and preparation.

Currently doing the first pass of a first draft and it always gives me a chuckle when I find placeholder names, which result in lines like this one in a world that is meant to be sort of pseudo-ancient Greece/Rome; "leaving them at home in the care of bob and tina."

Trust YouTube to take something clean that worked well (the pop-up list of your playlists when you chose to save something) and purposefully make it shit. Imagine the kind of moron it takes to a) do this and then b) think it was an improvement worth going live with.

My years of French at school make me ideal to find the thieves. I’ll just keep an eye out for anyone asking their way to the railway station then ask them what’s in their pencil cases.
