I would love to find 11 Rue des Batailles in Chaillot in 1797, or at least a picture of the house that Henri Delsarte moved into, for historical reasons. I do believe Haussmann's revamping of Paris destroyed it.
has anyone ever made maps (even better if interactive) of eg old street names and layouts of Paris? I do often wish there was an easy way to look up old addresses 🗃️ #FrHistory

Revolutionary French women's clubs demanded the right to vote and to bear arms to defend the Revolution. It didn't end well, or at least not for a long time. On this and why Condorcet was a pretty decent guy, a #Frenchpodcast. #FrHistory www.radiofrance.fr/francecultur...

On the extraordinary Haitian revolution, its complex relations with revolutionary France's on-off abolition of slavery, and a novel (to me) view of Haiti in the 19thC as a success story, followed by decline because of population growth. From @ppfideas.bsky.social #FrHistory
NEW EPISODE OUT NOW!

Today’s episode is about a very different revolution from any we’ve discussed so far: David talks to historian Hank Gonzalez about the Haitian Revolution, which for the first time in history saw a slave revolt result in an independent free state.

Getting cold here in the CNY region. We have a significant snow event in the works, of up to a meter of snow and windchill temps into the -30C region. Thank goodness it's only for 4 or so days, and then temps will be back up to the -2 to 0C - aka a Northern NY midsummer. *snerk*
