Since 2017, Amnesty International has been part of a global movement to open up new pathways to safety through community sponsorship. Thanks to this collective effort, more than one million refugees have been welcomed worldwide.

This is Eyad Jaabary (Eddy)'s story ⬇️
“It’s all still like a dream”: Syrian refugee builds new life in Argentina
Eddy knew little about Argentina before arriving in Buenos Aires as a refugee in 2017. With the support of a sponsor family, he has built a new life.

The Greek Ombudsman published a damning report into the actions of the Greek coastguard during the shipwreck in Pylos.

@amnesty.org welcomes these crucial findings.

Greece must take them into account in their investigations into the incident & finally open disciplinary investigations🧵

In a landmark ruling, @ECHR_CEDH concludes that there is “serious evidence suggesting” a practice of systematic #pushbacks by the #Greek authorities from Evros region to #Türkiye, something that @amnesty and other NGOs have been saying for years.

Funny story

Know who else Meta gave $1 Million to?

Not a group of Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar, who wanted it to build a school

b/c they didn't have one, after FB helped enable ethnic cleansing against them at home

Nope. FB called it "philanthropic activities" and said we don't do that

The situation in Syria following the ousting of President Bashar al-Assad is still unclear. Hasty decisions or changes in practice with respect to refugee status and pending processes for asylum or other forms of protection should be avoided.
