Adding to this, let's say you make a gift for someone, and then a while later they say, "Hey, I need you to make me another one cause my young relative liked the shiny thing"
It's kinda a slap in the face. We put real effort into our craft, it's hard when people can't see that.

Crafters, how frustrating is it that so often relatives don't understand the time it takes to make the things you make? I love that folks like what I do, but the amount of times that I've been asked to just make one of something for someone without any compensation offer is tiresome.
