One of my favorite sightings at #NoKings today: An elderly lady wearing her deceased husband’s Marine veteran cap hooking her cane over her arm to hold up her “Honk for Democracy” sign that was practically as big as she is. And getting happy honks all day 🇺🇸💪

In memory of Sister Marion Irvine, 95, who at age 48, fighting a smoking habit, tried for the first time to run 2 miles. Couldn’t. Walked most of it. Afterwards, thought “I bet I can do better tomorrow.” Look up the rest - it’s worth it.

“I bet I can do better tomorrow”
We can all use that.

Look at the chart for two minutes.
Life expectancy by country on the vertical axis, average annual health care spending per person on the horizontal.
What has caused the US to underperform so consistently and significantly since ~1980?

Discuss.

🙋🏼‍♂️New Orleans has more snow this Jan than Anchorage AK. It’s clear that debunked DICE estimates claiming 87% of the US GDP has zero impact from more extreme weather are complete BS.
Looking at you, DoE Sec. Wright. Have enough character to trade the financial self-justification for clear thinking?

The WSJ OpEd page is a good place to see inaccuracies and self motivated narratives being laid out for fossil fuel interests by their yes-men (From what I’ve seen, mostly men. If you see others, put ‘em in replies) They’ve been busy the last day or so. 🧵…

Home insurance being revoked or skyrocketing in cost across the US in areas w/high weather & fire risk.
This raises many questions. Will residents expect gov’t to insure where private insurance won’t? Will people accept subsidizing others w/their taxes to do that?
