BREAKING: In a shocking moment, BREAKING: Vladimir Putin boards the presidential limousine, known as "The Beast" with Trump, who has given Putin an unearned king's welcome, one night after Russia bombed more civilians.

Utterly despicable.

I really hope there are enough sensible people to make sure this doesn’t happen. Him getting the Nobel Peace Price would cheapen every single award before it. Yet there seems to be no limits to how low he can go.
International embarrassment.

The Song of Achilles by @madelinemiller.bsky.social nearly killed me. I read it in November and I still haven’t recovered. I can’t wait to read it again.
Bookish friends are great because you can be all "read this, it will absolutely crush your soul and tear your beating heart into a million little pieces and you will literally never recover from it" and they'll be like omg yaaaasssss

It has come to my attention that "up and not crying" is an acceptable Norwegian response to questions like "how are you doing?" and l'll be immediately adopting this for the days when I am, in fact, up and not crying

Shameful bullish. What's done incalculable damage is a decade of pernicious falsehoods about immigration, while people who should know better refuse to counter the lies of the increasingly normalised far right.

Let's tackle those lies:

My Mom died of cancer.
My grandparents died of cancer.
My best friend died of cancer.

Many of YOU, Democrats and Republicans, have friends and loved ones who died of cancer.

Cutting cancer research is evil AF, and we should ALL agree on that. If we can't, we're cooked.

If you're autistic/ADHD, and have coped fine, that's just great. But many simply can't - there is a wide spectrum of impacts.
If you then argue that because you coped, autism/ADHD are not real disabilities, and those who struggle are somehow 'weak' or 'to blame', then you should sit down & shut up.

"How would you characterize it?"

There has been a lot of chatter today about Zelenskyy's meeting with Trump, some regarding this moment when White House correspondent Brian Glenn asked if the Ukrainian president plans to wear a suit. I want to address idea in this thread. 🧵

I think about this a lot. If 1 million dollars (something that would change any one of our lives) is equivalent to 11 days, then 437 billion dollars is 13,765.5 years. Does that make you feel nervous, scared, indignant or uncomfortable? It should do.

The world is a better place with you in it! You belong in libraries, in the world- with your anxiety, your grief, your autism, your adhd, your bad days & good days, your joy.

I’m so happy you’re here! I know it’s a struggle. Thank you for being just as you are 💚

Love your library friend,

Every time I read about banning books, I think of this:

Reading a book with a gay character will not make you gay any more than reading a book about Einstein will make you a genius.
If you're afraid that books might change someone's thinking, you're not afraid of books — you're afraid of thinking.
