Zelenskyy's character can be judge more directly by how he treats others and whether you think he's protected his country. From what I've seen, he has treated Americans with respect. His attire is to remind people he's at war, not unlike Churchill wearing a siren suit to the White House in 1942.

Despite it all, I'd never actually felt ashamed of being an American until today. The stunt the Trump admin pulled with Zelensky is a new low and I feel physically ill about it.

Been thinking a lot about this for several years, as I have had more contact with management.
Bureaucracies exist to solve coordination problems. It's hard, the communications are lossy, and they are often bad at it.
But to operate at scale, you have to solve coordination problems.

In the army, a guy in my unit got selected for Ranger School. Then the night before the school started he maxed out his government credit card at a strip club.
They caught it almost immediately and he got pulled out of the school and sent back to our unit to be disciplined. The system works.
