There is a better way to travel between major US cities. It's not that we can't build high speed rail here... It's been a deliberate choice of political will, car industry lobbying and regulatory hurdles designed to make it seem impossible... But it is indeed a choice.

What if the United States had high-speed rail?
High-speed rail is a proven alternative to gridlocked highways and overcrowded airports. CNN has reimagined a faster, more connected future for US commuters.

For most of the last decade, our media and political class has panicked over the idea that progressives were intruding on free speech rights by loudly criticizing people with unpopular views.

Anyway, here's far-right federal paramilitaries advertising that they'll rip down pro-immigrant messages.
ICE just posted this video taking down the sign in Mount Pleasant on Twitter.

A 58 year old man biking in the 900 block of Ensor St was killed by the driver of a car this evening. If you have any information on this crash, please contact BPD and Bikemore.

Ensor St is a six lane arterial, and was supposed to have a separated bike lane installed by 2021.

Coal pollution has poisoned the Diné and other Tribal communities for decades. Now the Trump administration and their allies in Congress are pushing a bill that expands mining and short-circuits environmental reviews. This must be stopped.
Coal mining made my Navajo community sick for decades. Reviving it hurts us all | Opinion
Coal continues to destroy the Navajo Nation's health, land, air and water. The last thing we need is for Trump to revive the industry.

In the sheer absurdity of the moment, I hope folks pause and contemplate what great news this is for Oregon. Beavers are “nature’s engineers,” with the awesome ability to foster watershed-scale ecological resilience. So pleased with the good work we’ve been able to do here!!!
BREAKING: OR lawmakers pass beaver protection bill to restore more than 100,000 miles of impaired waterways

"HB 3932 gives us an opportunity to try a low tech, low-risk and no-cost strategy to address impaired waterways by encouraging beavers to return to our public lands.”

We have to start taking the crises of biodiversity loss and ecological destruction seriously.
Yesterday was National Prairie Day so this is my annual reminder that Illinois calls itself "The Prairie State."

But a more honest name would be “We Destroyed The Prairie State."
