I have a big future behind me.
Bryan Ferry is 80 today. I can scarcely believe it. Thanks for many years of musical pleasure.

I'm deeply sorry to hear that Stephen Luscombe of Blancmange has passed away. I saw them supporting Depeche Mode in Bristol in the very early 1980s. Halfway through Blancmange's set, their equipment failed, and they completed the gig on one keyboard and a guitar, like the proper pros they were. RIP

"Investigators say that the attacker who opened fire on pupils as they were praying at a church in Minneapolis was "obsessed with the idea of killing children".

Those would be investigators from the 'Department of closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.'

I presume that Virgin Media are under attack given that their TV service is mashed, its website is down, and you can't login to the app...

Sorry to hear of the passing of singer Terry Reid this week. I saw him twice, once in the splendour of the London Palladium in 2001, and two years ago, in a tiny venue in Frome. I had a chat with him afterwards. Nice guy, and a great performer in his day. RIP.

Terry Reid did so much more than not join Led Zeppelin
The British singer’s story began with electric blues and Americana, with forgotten albums and famous friends. Years later, he told me the rest.

Another international goal for Cristiano Ronaldo as he approaches the half-way point in his playing career...

I think I remember Jordan Henderson's England debut, playing left-half alongside Tom Finney and Nathan Lofthouse. Stanley Matthews got a late winner. #andveng #england

I think it's fair to say that the arrival of England hasn't exactly sparked the interest of Andorran football fans. There are more empty seats than a Blue reunion tour.

Sorry to say that I didn't finish the London Marathon this morning.

I turned over and watched the snooker instead...

I'm lost in admiration for the two parents running the London Marathon who lost their daughters in the Southport murders last year. Stay well and be proud.

Appalling racial segregation already in place at the women's London Marathon. Black girls together at the front, and all the white girls in a group behind them... 😉

I always had a great liking for Andy Peebles, who used to play a Stevie Wonder track on every show.

Live Aid and Lennon make for a great epitaph, and anyone who loves and promotes cricket is alright with me. RIP Andy

Very saddened by the passing of Rick Butler of The Jam. They were a band I loved as an awkward teen trying to find his own musical groove. RIP.

Saw Kim Wilson and the latest incarnation of his Fabulous Thunderbirds on Friday night in Bristol, my first encounter with The Great Man since Feb 1908, a mere 45 years. A night of sweet Southern boogie blues ensued with the head honcho both in good voice and spectacular harmonica form. Thanks Kim.

I saw Linda Nolan and her sisters in summer-season in Eastbourne in 1977 when she was 18 and I was 13. They were so polished for such young girls. Sleep well Linda, you fighter. #rip

Losing Annie Nightingale, Steve Wright and now Johnnie Walker in the same year is unbearably painful for those of us who love music radio. RIP, you heroes.

Good job Ben Stokes won the toss or we could be headed for a colossal defeat. #NZvENG

The striking Kate Mason started this #NZvENG series with Cook and Finn in tow and ended up doing a three minute intro before handing over to the Kiwi output. A waste of her considerable talent.

Crawley has been awful this series but he is unlucky here. Henry was fortunate that the ground supported the ball momentarily while he was getting his hand to it. #NZvENG #englandcricket

15 wickets in the day. What has Test cricket become? Fair play though, it was bloody entertaining.
