This morning I was flipping through @catherinephipps.bsky.social's 'Modern Pressure Cooking' again with my morning coffee.
One thing lead to another and instead of the planned beef stew a seafood boil appeared on the table. 😁

When you have Covid and cannot focus on anything and then you switch on Netflix and the second season of My Life with the Walter Boys pops up. Dross but very watchable dross and just what I need.

I am reading O Caledonia for the first time and it is sweeping me along, despite being awestruck by writing and observation on every page. I got out of bed just to go downstairs and read my husband a paragraph about false teeth which had me heave with the horror of it.

Adam decided to make hot cross buns as he didn’t get enough last weekend. I was out for most of it. Bombarded by messages asking to buy sugar, yeast, raisins, allspice berries, all of which were exactly where they were supposed to be. But he got there in the end. Not all cross at my request!

I have just had the experience of my bone conduction headphones being bluejacked. A forced disconnect from my phone and a really creepy voice saying over and over again something like PS CREAM. Bit deaf so not sure. Factory reset seems to have worked….

And the rice pudding was so easy since done in instant pot - as per recipe from @catherinephipps.bsky.social

I usually go with some combination of vanilla, bay leaf and lemon zest but this was great

Also please note, I pressure cooked literally every stage of this, separately: mince; leeks; potatoes. Only turned the grill on to toast up the cheese on the leeks. YAY for @catherinephipps.bsky.social + her amazingly thorough book Modern Pressure Cooking 🧡
Made Delia’s cottage pie. That is cheesy leek mash on top, oh YES IT IS 😍
I’m going to go at it with a huge spoon + a glass of red

Today I am mourning the loss of a rare and glorious day of the house entirely to myself for 6 whole hours. Instead I have swapped office bound husband for sofa bound sick son. Of course I am sorry he is ill but peace shattered. Plus 5 day break to Cornwall scuppered.

Gloomy day today but the birdsong almost makes up for it. Merlin recorded (I can ID a lot birds but not all of these!) - blackbird, song thrush, dunnock, robin, goldfinch, greenfinch, wren, long tailed, blue and great tits, greater spotted woodpecker, as well as all the bigger & water birds.

Can second this. I’ve been buying from them
for years and they are excellent quality. As well as online, Londoners can find them at the Chiswick Flower Market, first Sunday of the month.
Gardening and cooking friends, may I recommend @pepperpotherbs.bsky.social? A great source of herbs, advice, beauty. They have varieties you can't find everywhere else and all of their plants are incredibly perky.

Pressure cooker roast beef? Why yes, and excellent it is too. Find here along with a very zingy Seville orange green sauce.

Anyone? I must admit I very rarely use the slow cooking function - don’t see the point for most things. But I am assuming any cook on slow cooking would do it?
Has anyone used the Instant Pot for slow cooking? Who is the @catherinephipps.bsky.social equivalent for slow cooking?? Do I need a special book??? Help! @jonnorris12.bsky.social am I right that you use a slow cooker?
