I'll say this: I've moved from firmly in the "F-35 is an expensive boondoggle we should cancel" camp to "the F-35 is a program of record whose distinguishing features mostly make it useful in a war against nuclear-armed states, and whose limits should inform future acquisitions" camp. Seasons change

At the Carnegie nonproliferation conference and IAEA chief Rafael M. Grossi spent a bit of time making the case for nuclear-propulsion in commercial shipping.

Really interesting.

I think the single biggest reason I think about rail as a nerd is the American public's delusion around car infrastructure being superior because it's what "was always here." Meanwhile every desirable neighborhood in the US with sky-high rent and properties were almost all streetcar suburbs. #trains

i feel like the democrats should go ultra hard on pro-canada rhetoric, considering that invading canada actually polls at around 6% -- underneath the 'lizard people' threshold.
Ossoff: This is why things don’t work for ordinary people. It’s not because of trans kids or woke college students. It’s not because of our new arch-enemy… Canada.

A lot of people view anything that isn't brutal, miserable apathy as a weakness. A lot of young people view that too.

I refuse to be a bitter, broken man when I am young and energetic.
It remains absolutely fucking wild to me how many people seem to have radicalized themselves against the very concept of "judging a person morally by their words and actions".

I get asked a lot of questions about the various agendas I have with #modelrailroad #modeltrains so I annoyingly summarized them into a loose-fitting list of insufferable hot takes because my 'tism said so. So if you're into anything listed below stay tuned: I will never shut up about these things.

It's honestly horrific that we've turned on our closest ally
"We have fought and died alongside you....During your darkest hours...we were always there. Standing with you, grieving with you, the American people.” I’ve had my differences with Justin Trudeau, for sure, but he rose to the occasion here.

Wow, can’t believe it’s been nearly 8 years since @collinkrum.bsky.social and I visited Boom Aerospace. They’re still located at Centennial Airport but this was at the old location there in June 2017.

Incredible day here in Nagoya. Paying a visit to ZA001, the very first 787 Dreamliner built by Boeing. The lead test aircraft made its last flight here in 2015. Wonderful seeing this airplane again.

Between The Risen Empire and Leviathan series, Scott Westerfeld has written some great sci-fi that I wish got more attention!
Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you.

One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order.

No explanations, no reviews, just covers.
