This is the same eugenic belief system that many still hold re: the ongoing pandemic. They believe people’s deaths from covid are acceptable if they’re medically vulnerable. It’s a disgusting ableist belief system and this rhetoric surrounding children in Gaza is the natural consequence of that
I’m kind of speechless with this one. I can’t imagine the kind of person who continues to make the argument that it doesn’t count as real starvation if the kids were already sick.

The fastest-growing homeless population in America? School-age children.

Last year, student homelessness in California—where rents continue to soar past wages—rose by 20,000, reaching its highest level in a decade.

But sure, keep insisting homelessness is all about mental illness and addiction.

Just to be clear: these rising rates have nothing to do w RFK nixing boosters (though that's very bad), they're because both Democrats and Republicans have dismantled public health and no one is masking and taking airborne disease precautions.

Our current vaccines don't stop transmission, MASK UP!!
COVID-19 rates in the Southwestern United States reached 12.5% — the highest in the nation. It comes as California students, for example, return to the classroom after RFK Jr. nixed the CDC’s recommendation that they receive booster shots.

I need people to understand:

1. Every US state already evicts more people annually than all of the EU combined

2. In most states, having a disability, health emergency, or a financial hardship is not a defense to an eviction suit

3. In most states, there is no right to counsel in eviction cases

Sarahmarie Grendler and her kids became homeless after their rental was left to rot with water damage and black mold. She ended up in the ICU. The home was condemned.

Her landlord still demanded rent.

"How are you going to ask me for money," she said, "when the house is condemned by the city?"

This book from @brian-goldstone.bsky.social is astonishing: about the millions of working homeless people who are excluded from the (already insufficient) social safety net. 'Evicted', for a decade in which this country is somehow even crueler to poor people than it's ever been. Highly recommended.

WOOD STREET centers on John and LaMonté—two unhoused men turned community leaders—who organize their neighbors in the face of displacement, addiction, and a failing social system. Their story is a powerful testament to resilience, solidarity, and the right to remain.

I’m choked up seeing this—it’s shameful.

Iranian refugees got snatched by “immigration agents” dressed like bounty hunters in West LA’s Sawtelle neighborhood.

We’re really about to send them back to a country we just bombed? A regime known for jailing, torturing, and killing its own people?

Pandemics, eugenics and fascism go hand in hand.

The moment people accepted the narrative that “only the vulnerable” had to worry about covid, they ceded considerable ground to fascists.

They effectively “othered” an entire class of people.
