'Procrastinate' literally means “having been put forward til tomorrow.”

‘pro’ (“forward”) + ‘crastinus’ (“of tomorrow”)

We meant to post this weeks ago.

“The problem is not with phonics being ‘in’ but with much else being crowded out” - Very interesting read here, drawing on wide research evidence, about the consequences for children of increasingly polarised reporting on literacy education

Raymond says provision should be made for all students during the strike, but if that were possible, we wouldn't need EAs. Point the finger at the real problem here: The UCP's neglect of public education.
"We wouldn't say in a school, because we have diminished resources in a building, that 20 per cent of the children in each class stay home one day," said Heather Raymond, whose grandniece was told to stay home temporarily. "We would never do that, but we do it to kids with disabilities." #Ableg

Absolutely frigid temperatures won’t stop education support staff from standing up for fair wages and respect ✊

So many honks of support at Ross Sheppard High this morning. Keep sending them your love, friends.

These workers show up every day for kids; the least we can do is show up for them. 💜

My 4th and 5th grade classes come to the library maybe once a month, because they're so busy fitting in everything in their curriculum. It's so frustrating. If they don't get to school early enough to get books, they don't have the opportunity during the day.

Wow! In Alberta, this could end up being the side effect of our much-too-busy ELAL elementary curriculum

Nope. It needs to start in early elementary - we know from research kids are already involved in digital media by then, including advertisements and all kinds of propaganda.
Hot Take: They should make media literacy a reuqired high-school course.

Why is this even a story in the media? Looks like an op to try to paint Carney as a privileged elitist. On the other hand, it's hard to believe a limo company would agree to do business with someone who wouldn't provide a name. Either way, this is fluff.

Wearing #RedforEdAb today to bring awareness to the fact that Alberta is the least funded school jurisdiction in Canada. This lack of funding has led to larger classes, fewer supports and resources for students, and a public education system left in crisis.
