A soldier's regular 2-week rotation in the frontline trenches, there were few ways for soldiers to bath. Here, Cdn soldiers are using a water-filled shell hole to wash their face & feet to avoid catching "trench foot."

This German paratrooper died during the fight for Pucciarelli, Italy, when the troops of 6 Bn. Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers defeated the German forces tasked to hold the town, despite a vicious battle between the British & Canadian armies against the Germans. June 25, 1944.

Henry Norwest, a Cree-Métis saddler, cowboy, trapper & hunter from Alberta, served as a sniper with the 50th Bttn C.E.F. Officially had 115 confirmed kills, the highest “score” recorded in the British Empire to that point, Norwest was KIA August 18, 1918 near Amiens.
