I'm not an expert but going round believing Russia "hates" us is probably an impediment to dialogue.

Like, I'm sorry the fascists are giving you difficult choices. But that's what fascists fucking do. The only legit answer is "fuck you make me". The only answer that shows you have actual fucking principles not preferences is "fuck you make me". And that sucks. But here we are.

Indeed - capitulation only saves them in the short term.

Transphobes will never forgive them for needing to be forced; trans people & our allies will never forgive the capitulation.
Whilst it is absolutely true that the lawfare deployed against charities in particular, but also many other businesses, is an existential threat to them, I think it is also fair for us to be furious that the choice is always "fuck them trannies" and continued existence.

Doubly annoying criticism because any "cost" puts money into the economy because the recipients are going to... spend it!
I'm hearing criticisms of the end to the two child limit, because it was done just to mollify Labour backbenchers, at a cost of £billions.

I remember another govt delivering a referendum on EU membership, just to mollify restive backbenchers. That's costing way, way more... A little perspective?

Might resonate more if Bush hadn't spent 2015-2022 screaming at the left for being stupid peoe who need to fall in line behind the people now in charge.
Stephen Bush on the extraordinary draft legislation which Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp, Matt Vickers, Katie Lam and backbench colleagues have proposed in parliament

It is a proposal that would seek to deport around 5% of the resident population, including over a quarter of a million with ILR

They are doing this because they are Christian fundamentalists who believe in the curse of Eve:

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

We’ve sent an open letter to the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions to tell him that the the government must act urgently to prevent increasing numbers of women being driven into sex work by poverty and financial need.

Hate to put this out there but the Tories are going to wait until 2027 & use/force a by-election to get Johnson back in Parliament & then return as leader.

- A current or recent trustee of a UK grant making charity (within last 18 months); or
- Have been a decision-maker for at least 2 participatory grant making processes in the last 18 months.

This assumes taxes *would* go up when a large part of our taxes go to keeping the rich, rich.
Wow, people in Britain would rather raise taxes on the rich even if that leads them to flee the country, reducing overall tax revenues (and meaning taxes go up for the rest of us). H/T www1.politicalbetting.com/index.php/ar...

It’s absolutely outrageous that @ameliagentleman.bsky.social has written this article and hasn’t included a single word from sex worker-led organisations or outreach charities that work with sex workers who oppose these proposals. Where is the balance? Where are the voices of actual sex workers?

Not a lawyer but this in today's Supreme Court decision is nonsensical.

I can request examination by someone of whatever sex but I have no way of knowing if that person is cis or trans, and their workplace wouldn't get to know that either - it has to be a broad use & doesn't specify same sex anyway
