Not bad for "nonprofit" work. CA utility bashers @ewg pay execs $332K+ & $274K for outside "public relations and media strategy"
September 9, 2025 at 8:45 PM
"Nonprofit" @ewg spent more than $3.6 million in lobbying during past 4 years, according to latest @IRSNews filings. Not exactly a "grassroots" organization.
September 9, 2025 at 8:42 PM
So much for "grassroots"! DC-based @ewg raked in nearly $12 million in donations last year, takes corporate $, and refuses to reveal most of its donors, hiding behind "nonprofit" status www.ewg.org/who-we-are/f....

Another DC-based "dark money" group pops up to attack CA's electricity providers and utility workers. "Re-Volt" leaders include Loretta Lynch, who “led” CA into an energy crisis a quarter of a century ago.

FACT: PG&E bills are going down!
September 5, 2025 at 4:40 PM
What's it hiding? Not registered as a nonprofit with the @IRSNews or AG's office, "Stop PG&E" refuses to reveal its funders.

FACT: From the "You Can't Make This Up" department, the oft-quoted leader of "Stop PG&E" lives in...Missouri.

"It is unjust, unreasonable and unsustainable for Californians to continue shoveling billions of dollars every year to an industry when it is no longer justified nor fair to non-solar customers, particularly when the burden falls hardest on low-income customers"
June 12, 2025 at 5:00 PM
"AB 942 directly addresses the growing 'cost shift' that unfairly burdens low- and moderate-income households, renters and non-solar customers" -- Energy Transition Collective
June 11, 2025 at 4:05 PM
"The NEM cost shift inequity is compounded by the fact that it is dominated by subsidies from poorer households to wealthier households, from black & Hispanic customers to non-Hispanic white customers..." - Coalition of CA Utility Employees & CA State Assoc. of Electrical Workers
June 10, 2025 at 7:30 PM
"While TURN recognizes the desire of legacy NEM customers to retain 20 years of tariff protection, the high costs of these protections are borne entirely by the general body of customers" -- The Utility Reform Network (TURN)

“Affordability is the most important issue for Californians right now, and AB 942 will deliver billions in savings on their electricity bills. We’re pleased that it passed the Assembly by a wide margin and look forward to working with the Senate.” Elizabeth Martinez @CAHispanic, VP
June 9, 2025 at 4:05 PM
FACT: The California legislature is taking action on affordability. Passing #AB942 is a giant step. It will save Californians $3.6 billion on their electricity bills during the next two decades. $423 million in savings next year alone! #caleg

"It is unsustainable for California to continue to operate with NEM’s current trajectory, and it is unjust to have working families without solar bear a disproportionate cost for the technology" -- California Federation of Labor Unions, AFL-CIO
June 4, 2025 at 4:12 PM
"We have seen arguments from the rooftop solar industry that AB 942 would 'break 20-year contracts' of two million solar customers. This is wrong..."
-- California Wind Energy Association
June 3, 2025 at 5:15 PM
"Policies that are meant to advance climate and renewable goals should not disproportionately burden the less wealthy and disadvantaged communities. NEM fails the very basic goal of equity" -- The Coalition of CA Utility Employees & CA State Association of Electrical Workers

Respected @BerkeleyHaas expert @BorensteinS debunks solar industry's paid economist about #netmetering noted in @sfc_opinions: "The @CaliforniaPUC decision didn’t end the cost shift – even for new systems – it just partially reduced the burden on other ratepayers"

What’s wrong with this picture? Major pro-consumer, pro-enviro groups @NRDC @EDF @envirovoters back #SB540 @SenJoshBecker @SecHenryStern, while “consumer” groups @UtilityReform @ConsumerWD oppose despite estimated $800 million/year savings. What interest is paying them for their stance?
April 28, 2025 at 10:22 PM
#AB1167 #SB24 both try to legislate an issue that’s been put to rest by previous legislatures. The California PUC disallows the use of consumer funds for political contributions & has the authority to determine if any advertising is safety-based and can be recovered in rates.

#SB332 is an energy boomerang! It could result in higher costs to customers, delay critical safety improvements and harm customers by reducing the utility’s ability to make necessary investments in infrastructure.

Senate Bill 540 @SenJoshBecker @SenHenryStern “would result in $800 million per year in benefits to Californians,” says a study. But so-called “consumer” group TURN @UtilityReform opposes it, putting politics before affordability. Read Senate Committee analysis: tinyurl.com/SB540Analysis
