Pro-coffee, midwestern artist that has a book AND pop culture problem.
Honestly, I’m loving this late fall-early winter of TV streaming.

I’m having fun with It: #WelcomeYoDarry, #StrangerThings, #HeatedRivalry, and the upcoming season of #PercyJackson.

The non-profit that owns the theater in my town does a holiday pop up show - yes, I know my favorite holiday (Halloween) hasn’t happened yet - but I’m slowly working on getting a few cards done for it.

Currently rereading “How It All Blew Up” by Arvin Ahmadi.

I love Ahmadi’s storytelling skills in this YA novel.

So #BookSky, who else is a fan of Diane Duane’s book series #YoungWizards?

Recently rediscovered the series and am currently on “A Wizard Abroad”

Hey #coffeesky and #coffeenerds, I’m trying to up my game when it comes to knowing what grind is best to highlight different tasting notes for with different brewing methods. Would anyone point me in the direction of good resources to learn more about this so I’m not going in metaphorically blind?

Just saw Jurassic World Rebirth and it preformed as well as I thought it.

Jonathan Bailey was probably my favorite part of the film; but you can see all that went into making this film here: popculturecafe.substack.com/p/jurassic-w...
“Jurassic World: Rebirth,” a Premature Idea?

Off to see Jurassic World Rebirth. Kinda just expecting the usual: a movie about capitalism and the rich trying to get richer with the moral of the movie involving something about not messing with Mother Nature.

I attempted reading DeWitt’s “The Last Samurai” and it’s the prefect example just because even when a book is described as ‘the book of century,’ that it doesn’t translate to every reader.

Checkout my #bookreview below.

Helen DeWitt’s “The Last Samurai” might be ‘The Best Book of the Century,’ but not for everyone
For A contemporary fiction that I’m apart of, we’ve chosen the 2000 debut novel The Last Samurai by Helen DeWitt.

Nothing beats getting 1,000+ words of a piece that you’ve been thinking about actually written.

Possibly one of my lines from Attach Your Résumé’s @ericsilver.bsky.social is: “Spotify is trying to Single White Female YouTube”
In an age of sycophants and nepotism, it is so easy to be happy for someone who has found success for being good at their shit. That is @edzitron.com

Talking to hit makes you wanna find an AI exec and punch them in the mouth. Just listen.

One thing I’m slightly curious about:

Back when kings had taste testers to ensure their food wasn’t poised, how many cooks had been found guilty of trying to poison the king cause the taste tester had a food allergy?

I love listening to @schub.es’ podcasts because I’m always like: where can I find a nerd that knows about basketball to help to create an analogy about the adaptation of Greek to Roman gods…that also took Latin in high school

btw, loving today’s episode of @newestolympian.bsky.social

I won’t lie, watching “Another Simple Favor” feels a bit awkward given the Lively vs Baldoni lawsuit.

Once again, I am not Catholic, my Irish-American family hasn't been Catholic in at least three generations, the only Catholics in my family are adult converts from the Dutch side. I also do not know why I'm so invested in this

But I am
