Paramount, Netflix, and Comcast are putting in bids for Warner Bros. Discovery.

The Telecommunications Act of 1996 was, in the long run, a very bad idea with disastrous consequences.

If you ever wonder why your artist friend is so pissed off whenever they see AI slop used instead of real, human-created art, it's exactly what you think:
How is AI *really* impacting jobs?

Henley Chiu, the CTO of Revealera, a jobs data analysis firm, analyzed 180 million jobs listings in 2024 and 2025, in an effort to find out. Chiu found an:

-8% drop in all jobs postings
-~30% drop in art, photography, writing jobs
-22% drop in journalism jobs
What’s really going on with AI and jobs?
Record-breaking layoff reports, Amazon's mass firings, and a slump in entry level employment. Is AI behind it all?

"The young staffers at Teen Vogue took a magazine that had been cute and commercial before 2016, and wrestled it into the flagship publication of feminist Gen Z politics."

Such a nice piece from Sarah Leonard.

Condé Nast folded a beloved magazine that treated youth and feminism as political topics, not trends.

The finale of the great TV comedy show Blackadder goes Forth.
Back then I didn't expect one of the funniest programmes ever to end with a scene that makes me cry every time I see it.
Every single time.

there has been zero noise about new leadership in the house or senate which should tell you plenty about how much Dems actually care about their complete and total loss.

Teaching the Trump administration that disrupting air travel gets them what they want would be a bad idea. They’d pull that lever again.

The current leadership of the Democratic Party is incapable of getting us out of this mess.

Right now, the DNC is a fundraising organization.

To stop fascism, we must rebuild it into a fighting organization.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.
