Yarn: Red Hill Fiber DK Targhee wool in "Candy Queen"
November 13, 2025 at 5:03 PM
New spiral crochet hat in progress - for me, not a shop sample. I'm using a size F hook with this DK yarn from Red Hill Fiber - 100% Targhee wool in the colorway "Candy Queen." I bought 2 hanks, so if the hat only uses one I'll make matching fingerless mitts or a cowl.

My point here: Voters are complicated. Picking some generalized candidate template as a way to dig out of trends (in this case, MO Dems' complete collapse in rural Missouri) isn't going to work.
Why did Missourians vote for liberal ballot items — but conservative candidates?
Missourians have backed ballot items supported by Democrats in the past decade while also giving Republicans unfettered control over state government.

To recap, Trump signed a proclamation saying that after midnight tonight, no one with an H-1B visa may enter the US unless they have paid $100,000. However, anonymous White House officials are saying it doesn't apply to people with current H-1B visas — yet there is NO official guidance! None!
An absolute clown show.

Avoiding chaos like this is one of the many reasons a for *not* having EOs be the normal method of legislating or regulating. You really want more careful review than “Steve Miller doodled it on a napkin and Trump signed it with a sharpie.”

Trump administration tries to tamp down panic for high-skill visa holders after last-minute overhaul
The president announced Friday that H-1B visas will now come with a $100,000 annual fee, but a U.S. official said it will only apply to new visa applicants.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, it was the second deadliest attack on journalists ever recorded.

I had some PTO to use before my anniversary date and used it to measure warps and start some kitchen towels as gifts. I'm using Peaches & Creme yarns in the warp and weft, an 8 dent heddle on my 24" rigid heddle loom. I also took it to my LYS yesterday to weave during their Yarn Crawl.

My hank of merino yarn is mostly dry - I gave it a soak in hot water yesterday after plying then winding it onto my umbrella swift.

Yesterday was the final day of #TourDeFleece and I'm so happy with how this yarn turned out.

Plying is finished. You can see that the last part I plied, which was the first part I spun plied against itself, is thicker than the rest. If I were spinning for a specific project, it would be helpful to keep a sample, to compare against as I spin, to stay consistent.

Tonight I spun on my bed while finishing the audiobook "Becoming Madam Secretary" by Stephanie Dray.

I found Frances Perkins' story absolutely fascinating and inspiring, in particular her shepherding Social Security into existence and breaking several glass ceilings for women.

More #TourDeFleece spinning progress on the EEW6. I love watching the colors blend and change as I draft out the fiber from the ball and it winds in layers onto the bobbin.

This week of #TourDeFleece I've been spinning a rainbow braid of #MerinoWool on my #ElectricEelWheel6.

Quick crochet project - a headband using Coboo yarn and a hair elastic. Planning on making more with different yarns and stitch combinations (this was all single crochet).

On Father's Day, sitting Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) openly mocked the Minnesota elected official assassination of Melissa Hortman and her husband and implied that they deserved to die. Two children no longer have their parents.

Two children lost their Father a day before Father's Day after a white MAGA Christian Nationalist shot those children's parents to death.
Republican Mike Lee decided to celebrate Father's Day by inviting other MAGAs to murder Democrats - taking away other children's parents.
Mike Lee is beyond sick.
