Also fwiw I now fully believe it was not Luigi. He's been relentlessly made into a symbolic scapegoat out of circumstance, and the injustice being done to him is... well, par for the course for the NYPD, but no less heinous
I feel like his politics have less to do with this than the fact that he had to have invasive surgery well-known for lasting chronic pain almost immediately after aging out of his parents' health insurance coverage.

"A second American revolution is needed to free the people from their oppression by the bureaucracy" is a very strange thing for someone who is the textbook definition of the bureaucracy right now to say
It’s probably a bad sign when the wealthiest person in the world, who’s already shutting down entire government agencies in a coup and has access to all our personal information, is now talking about “a second American revolution”

Hellooo... I'm still alive, I promise! Things have been, ah, *hectic* seems too casual a word...

I don't even know where to start on an update for me, but here I am! I haven't been keeping up on barely anything, so lmk if there's something pertinent I've missed

As someone who has also had a spinal fusion operation (mine was cervical) and years of horrific pain, I think the x-ray photo on his profile is far more important in understanding the shooter's motivations for attacking a health insurance CEO than any retweeting activity or Goodreads reviews.
the person of interest in the shooting of the United CEO has been ID’d as Luigi Mangione, an Ivy League grad and fan of Breloom, the mushroom Pokémon.

It's true that bluesky isn't great for news and commentary about Palestine. Maybe it will get better, maybe it won't. But we have to keep trying because it's crucial to talk about Palestine precisely where it feels unwelcome.

Around this time every year, I share a list of ways to support Native people. From supporting Indigenous people seeking abortion care to defending Native voting rights and keeping Native families together, here are some causes worth supporting. 🧵

Beyond Thanksgiving myths, I recently wrote about how the Pilgrims used visuals of the Native people they killed in their conquest. Even now, their opportunistic consumption of the imagery of death gives us important warnings about how we interact with the grotesque terrors we witness.
Exploitative opportunities come with spreading graphic imagery of assaulted and dead oppressed peoples. I wrote about the Pilgrims and slavers using pre-camera visuals of killings. It connects to lynching photos and the sharing of images of genocide today. logicmag.io/issue-21-med...

Lego only giving you 20 reward points per set no matter how expensive that set was might be the biggest rip I've ever heard of

Especially because you *can't* even register the $10-$15 ones

Says the man who's never been in one
Dwayne Johnson says people should feel free to sing in theaters when they watch a musical:

“Sing! You’ve paid your hard earned money for a ticket, and you've gone into a musical, and you’re into it. Sing!”

Repeating my helpful little mnemonic song from Twitter:

If he'll drive you to the criming, he's a Fed 👏👏
If he'll drive you to the criming, he's a Fed 👏👏
If you can't get there without him
And you don't know much about him
If he'll drive you to the criming, he's a Fed 👏👏
after another long day of browsing old court documents, i just want to remind everyone that if a stranger agrees to do something illegal with you and they keep asking you to say out loud what the illegal plan is, that’s because the officer is recording you.

You know, maybe I don't say this enough but you don't need to be a conspiracy theorist to point out that we all just lived through a year of open election interference that was so profound that if we had witnessed it happen elsewhere the USA would have called for an intervention
