I’ve been talking non-stop with folks about #VerticalShorts and they are constantly saying “they’re making so much money on terrible scrips, can you imagine if we made a good one?”

At some point I might just write “what if everybody is wrong?” because there is a chance I believe nobody bothered to work out if any of this would make a profit or, indeed, whether you’d be able to power the data centers themselves
Amazon just sued one of the largest power companies in Oregon after it failed to power up two data center (one without enough power and one with no power at all) campuses that were meant to be ready *in 2021*. Sure hope this isn't an industry wide problem!

Now that we have even more reasons to boycott Spotify, I thought I’d repost this video from @cutoffthespigot.bsky.social with recommendations for more ethical alternatives.
Spotify’s CEO Daniel Ek led a funding round of nearly $700M into the European defense firm Helsing, which specializes in AI software integrated into fighter aircraft like its HX-2 AI Strike Drone. Ek now leads the company.

Not into war profiteers?
Here are Spotify alternatives👇🏻

The only thing that scales in an AI is its costs, directly above its revenues, always outpacing them. Your most passionate users are your most expensive. The more curious they are, the more they cost you.

LLMs will go down as one of the single-worst business models of all time.
It doesn't scale? It doesn't scale.

It's interesting seeing the different ways resistance has formed in different cities. Los Angeles Organized, Chicago Radicalized, and Portland Got Weird as Fuck. All 3 have had success unifying their respective cities.

I guess my point is there are multiple paths to ungovernability.

@unraveledpress.com & other press have been threatened, shot with less-lethals and arrested while reporting on federal immigration activities in Chicagoland and on the resulting protests at Broadview.

I'm now at a hearing asking the federal court to rein ICE & co in. I'll let you know how it goes.
Well, yeah, we're suing ICE.

This wasn't really a hard decision. As little faith as we have in institutions, we recognize the value of drawing visible lines in the sand. We drew ours personally a while ago, but better late than never.

May every protester be freed and may this occupation end.

I've seen so many people lazily (xenophobically) claim 'outsource is stealing all the work', but MOST countries are in the same boat rn. Never let the suits skimming more and more off the top convince you a fellow worker is to blame.
The most important human story in the entertainment industry right now is the severe downturn in film and TV production in LA and how it's affecting middle-class crew workers. I spoke to dozens of them for this story about the depressed Hollywood economy. www.wsj.com/business/med...
