Gerry Connolly was campaigning against anti-LGBTQ discrimination in a time when most of his colleagues felt it was too risky based on polling. He didn't back down from that fight in what was then a swing district. His loved ones are in my thoughts today. Rest in peace, Sir.

We knew Gerry as a pugnacious fighter for his constituents, for good government, and for a range of causes around the world. He was warm, witty, and loyal. Above all, Gerry was beloved by his family, friends, and staff. I send my condolences to them and especially to Smitty, Caitlin, their family.

I’m saddened to hear about the passing of Congressman Gerry Connolly. Rep. Connolly was a son of Boston, lifelong Red Sox fan, and a leader who carried the values of our city with him always. My heart goes out to his family, his friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

We are seeing on a national scale what the Government gets away with: missing deadlines, failing to comply with orders, and most importantly, VIOLATING people's rights and depriving them of freedom. These things also happen regularly in criminal courts locally and that has made all this possible.
