I am the mom, the teacher, and the leader of my family. We are a 1 & done family.

I'm a homeschooler of 5.5 years of experience. I advocate for & support homeschooling families.

Secular, progressive, not hiding my politics, & so much more. Go science!
I am withdrawing from Blue sky for the season.

All the info I posted will remain. I may return in the fall.

I don't have the wherewithal for four or more social medias at this time.

I will be inactive, but not deactivated.

Boy playing Nintendo for tax.

Homeschooling: when you do school work any which way, any time, anywhere.

Z is starting his summer workbooks since he finished the formal curriculum early. Grades on another post. Today was house clothes day too.

Sometimes goodbyes are sad for kiddos. Z said good bye to a service dog in training. They were close.

Schools essentially over, so I will be posting less. I may repost older memes. Just a heads up for Summer and our travel in May.

Sometimes our activities are our homeschool. Z is at his cubscouts meeting. A lovely town with a forest preserve high on a hill.

Summer: should we do school work or not?

Z will do a light load. Just extra prepping for 6th grade. Nothing heavy. A one month break will be had though to go visit family and do other things.

Please read all the way through. These types of situations need to be known.
I homeschool my Dyslexic child. I never intended to homeschool him. I was forced to because our local public schools refused to intervene or even accommodate him for his learning differences. We tried two different elementary schools. We gave the second school a 16 page outside evaluation that

Today is a good day. Z officially finished the online curriculum. We are continuing with other topics, but the formal curriculum is done.

Z has elected to redo assignments he did poorly on to see if h can turn some Bs into As. He can stop as he wishes now.

Daycare cost as much as my check entire. Why let someone else raise my kid when I could? And I would know what my kid was learning instead of others teaching him their morals. (Which are usually far more mean and judgement than my husband or I.)
I've always said this. As a woman who stayed home with the kids, homeschooled for a few years even, but still very much consider myself a feminist. My CHOICE to stay home and be a Domestic Diva is as valid a choice as the woman who pursued a full-time career and utilized day care for their kids.
Lots of weird tales about stay at home parents here on the skyline today. Just because the pro natalists are wacky doesn't mean hanging out with your toddler instead of sending them to daycare isn't a valid choice.

When YouTube is a better instructor.

Mr. J on YouTube is a really good teacher on math topics. A resource for those of who aren't the best at advanced math. When the regular lesson doesn't make enough sense, Mr J does. Another homeschooling and technology crossroads.

The update:

Z finished the social studies curriculum. 90.5%.

Then Maundy Thursday for the Nerdy Pastor. He is my hubby. We do believe in Secular educating despite his job.

The thing no one tells you about raising #neurospicykids is that it very much feels like you're living reruns of Dexter's Laboratory. The good news is, my kids have a solid plan for defeating fascism with the power of ladybugs and growth potions.
