You know one thing about ads on streaming services and YouTube, is that by interrupting your show suddenly, they do not help sell the product. Quite the opposite they help you develop a negative association with the product, since it interrupts stuff you liked.

Crunchyroll is reportedly switching from 'Aegisub' to Israeli Software 'OOONA' for its Anime subtitles!
OOONA is currently used by Netflix, Warner Bros, and many other large media companies as well.

Aegisub is free software, by the way. What the fuck are we doing?
The whole CR new subtitling software debacle is so weird, because it's not like they're saving money on that. Aegisub is literally free. And it's a lot more powerful than what CR does with its subtitles anyway.

Spoke with an anon source who had an interesting insight into Visa policy. Per a convo with their bank on the Steam/itchio situation today, Visa put new restrictions into place due to a new "government policy." The exact phrase used by Visa. No specific country was listed as the source of the policy

There's a book I read as a teenager. It was a retelling of Cyrano de Bergerac, but what if he was kidnapped by aliens. That's my only familiarity with the character, so I don't know if this bit is from the original or not, but one thing stayed with je from this book, that seems relevant to our times

The really worrisome sign of the time is that those VPN sponsorships you skip in your favourite Youtuber's videos started to actually mention one of the real reasons people pay for VPN services - unblocking sites and services blocked in your country for political reasons.
