New Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner just sent out his first email to staff that starts off "I want to welcome you to the new Golden Age of America!"

This part stood out to me as particularly disturbing:
I understand how important access to safe, stable, and affordable housing is for American families. Homeownership is the foundation of the American Dream, and I am fully committed to using every tool at my disposal to confront America's housing crisis, slash cumbersome regulatory barriers, and cut back on waste, fraud, and abuse as a steward of the American taxpayer. Going forward, our measure of success will not be how many people we can support at HUD - it will be how many people we can uplift to get off HUD programs, and instead lead lives as healthy, productive citizens, pursuing the very best America has to offer for themselves and their families.
