Concert Review: Howl Owl Howl, Webster Hall 11.11.25

Great. Nothing better than when Howl Owl Howl pulls out the electric mandolin.

Album Review: Through This Fire Across From Peter Balkan - The Mountain Goats (2025)

This starts off just ok, but then gets much better when you realize it’s 45 RPM.

TV Review: Twin Peaks (1990)

I'm only on episode 2, but episode 1 was pretty long, so it's like I'm on episode 3. Anyway, good show, the guy from Portlandia does a good job.

Album Review: Q36 - The Rentals (2021)

Could do without hearing Musk’s name to be honest, but always good to hear Matt Sharp.

Album Review: Through The Open Window (The Bootleg Series Vol. 18 1956-1963) - Bob Dylan (2025)

I’ll more or less just listen to Bob Dylan in 1962 forever.

Album Review: Hail To The Thief (Live Recordings 2003-2009) - Radiohead (2025)

The original album is very good; this album, which basically sounds the same, is also very good. If anything better, because it plays at 33 1/3, which is just easier.

Album Review: Jeffrey Lewis Did Not Choose The Tracks or Sequence For This Out-Takes And Rarities Album 2007-2014 - Jeffrey Lewis (2016)

Disclaimer aside, a good album, including a detailed description of alternate side of the street parking and an ode to the genre.

Album Review: Walkin’ Down The Line: 1962-1963 Demos and Rare Tracks - Bob Dylan (2015)

Lots good here, including some extra lyrics to I Shall Be Free and an early John Brown, and Bob Dylan’s Dream is one of his best.

Album Review: Good Music - Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (1986)

Agreed.

Album Review: Pool Kids - Pool Kids (2022)

Everyone seems to like Easier Said Than Done; this review, however, is not of that, it is of their self-titled album. And, their self-titled album is good, so we should listen to Easier Said Than Done before long.

Album Review: Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? - Of Montreal (2007)

This is a very good Of Montreal album without the bonus vinyl tracks, and an amazing Of Montreal album with the bonus vinyl tracks.

Good, especially the Jonathan Richman part, and that one famous song, and several other songs.

Album Review: Document - R.E.M. (1987)

This is good, and our first use of the internet was to look up the lyrics to one of the songs.

Album Review: Meat Puppets II - Meat Puppets (1984)

Would we know about this if not for that unplugged album? No, we would likely not. But, it’s a great album, so all to the good. 45 RPM is a choice though, tbh.

Album Review: Pontiac - Lyle Lovett (1988)

This is a very good album, in a year of very good albums. Lyle Lovett was riding high in 1988.

Album Review: Outside Society - Patti Smith (2017)

That one song’s a little jarring to 2025 ears, but nevertheless, incomparably great.
