Systems to Communicate for Learning Support
Communicating effectively as a learning support teacher gets harder as caseloads grow. In my first month I built three simple tools to help: a student summary list, an assessment accommodations sheet, and a biweekly reflections report. The goal is to spend time to save time. These Google Sheets templates, shared as Excel, give teachers quick snapshots and links so updates stay clear, current, and easy to use.

Takeaways from the Visual White Paper on Global Growth in the International Schools Market
International schools are multiplying worldwide, enrolment is climbing, and fee income is rising—but growth alone does not guarantee quality. This white paper highlights five pivotal trends: rapid sector expansion, mounting pressure to give teachers real career pathways, the rise of hybrid curricula, increasing consolidation under school groups, and the push for richer STEM and co-curricular options. It poses five direct questions every leadership team should debate, urging schools to turn short-term market gains into long-term benefits for both students and staff.

Teacher Agency in Inclusive Education
Finishing the year, I set out to refresh my learning-support skills for next year. Right away I was reminded how challenging co-teaching can be, even with committed colleagues. To strengthen teacher confidence I turned to research on teacher agency in inclusive education. Studies keep highlighting three recurring barriers: teachers feel they are not doing enough, they lack the know-how, and they lack time to plan and adjust lessons (Robinson, 2017; Dayso et al., 2025; Van der Rheede & Dreyer, 2024).

2 of 11: Analysing Leadership Styles within Education Using Leadership, Policy and School Reform
This article builds on my earlier exploration of Dr Mary Lynn Boscardin’s leadership typology by shifting the focus from contextual settings to the domain of leadership, policy, and school reform. After briefly recalling the 11 poster series that mapped leadership styles across diverse environments, the piece defines this domain as the work of interpreting legislation, shaping policy, and guiding change initiatives that advance a school’s mission. With that definition in mind, the article offers practical reflection questions that invite leaders to identify their predominant style, examine why it emerges, and judge its impact on school improvement. Readers are encouraged to treat policy not as a checklist but as a lever for instructional growth, ensuring that every reform effort remains anchored in student learning and organisational purpose.

How do you know what is right for your students? What feels good might not have the best long term impact. Do you rely on professional judgement or something else? How do you define a good lesson? I explore this in my latest article. #EduChat #Teaching
How Do You Know What is Right in Teaching?
Over the past six months, my journey through master’s studies and professional reading has led me to reflect more deeply on my teaching practice. I have come to see how much the vision and culture of a school influence teaching styles and methods, and how professional judgement must constantly adapt to meet student needs. As I explore different frameworks and theories, I find myself questioning what truly defines good teaching and how we, as educators, balance research, school expectations, and the realities of our classrooms.
