I have had some fine line designs tattooed on my ribs - thank you to my lovely #tattoo artist Elle @ellestattoos.x for doing them for me. It is always such a pleasure.

Wow it took me four years for my referral to a NHS gender identity clinic to go through - they have only just contacted me. In the meantime I have been accessing private hormone therapy. The NHS referral does give me hope that I will be able to have surgery before I am too much of a risk.

I have a sense of urgency about how to spend my remaining years. Academia is not part of the solution. What could I do that will really make a difference to people’s lives?

One of my key medications is #aripiprazole. It is an antipsychotic drug that balances neurotransmitters to prevent me getting manic. It is used to treat bipolar and schizophrenia. I am on a low maintenance dose currently.

My daughter has recently turned 18. I remember having a year off work to look after her when she first came to us at two years old. They were such lovely times. I miss them.
