It’s important to realize how many men grow up thinking that having ‘the pleading eyes of a girl looking up for protection’ makes them more of a man, without questioning why the bolstering of their self-esteem demands someone else’s distress.
Vance: "If you're a man and you see the pleading eyes of a girl looking up for protection, then we have to protect our girls and our women in this country."

Perhaps now people will care about the victims of the breach itself now that it involves British people. We've made it perfectly clear over the last 48 hours that we couldn't give a damn about Afghan lives.

Personal details of UK special forces and spies were included in Afghan data breach
Details of more than 100 British officials were in the data, which may have fallen into the hands of the Taliban.

We should be having a debate about how British incompetence put the lives of thousands of Afghans at risk. Instead we're having a debate about 'how many criminals they let in'. Tells you everything you need to know about where we're at as a country inews.co.uk/opinion/tori...
Shockingly, the Tories did the right thing on secret Afghan asylum plan

5⭐️ for The Secrets of Blythswood Square by @sarasheridan.bsky.social

I found this book to be utterly charming as well as gripping. Being a Glasgow girl myself, it was a fascinating trip around the city in the mid 1800’s. Different times but themes that still resonate today.

Love this photo I took today of a swan on the frozen Forth and Clyde Canal at Firhill in Glasgow. Swans are large enough to break through the relatively thin ice, and you can see the broken shards floating around it, disrupting its reflection.

The Silence In Between by @josieferguson.bsky.social

I really enjoyed this debut novel by Josie Ferguson. A moving and compelling account of life in East Germany that flips between the war years and the division of East & West Berlin that draws you in from the start. A great debut 5⭐️ ☺️
