p.s. Glinner employed a similar tactic by wearing a banner outsider court saying "there's no such thing as a transgender child" . He also aired a conspiracy theory during his testimony that the victim (who is a child) was an adult lying about her age on account of her being trans.

When anti-trans news outlets describe the 17 yr old victim in the linehan verdict as an adult, they are participating in an age old tactic used to dehumanise minority children.

lets talk about the right wing tactic of "playing magical age"

another side note: first day is a groundbreaking children's television drama about a trans girl (played by trans child actress Evie Macdonald) and its director just been the whole series onto youtube cuz the BBC didnt licence the second season. if you have weins its a great show for them to watch🙏
This programming trend is pretty apparent in CBBC's content, with a trans affirming scene in transformers being cut, as well as the second season of First Day not being licensed

for a director general whose flagship motto was to gain back BBC's image of impartiality, his resignation due to the supposed failing that ideal is more reflective of what "impartiality" actually means to the far right. it will never be enough for them.

trans theory peeps help

does anyone know the scholar who turned the general vibe in the field from the halberstamian:"social transitioning is great but medical transitioning? boo" to "actually medical transitioning should be centred in political horizons"

what was the turning point paper?

it would be so easy for all of you who put money where your mouth is over kimmel to do the right thing for trans lives. trans expression is also freedom of speech. attacks on us are attacks on you too
It cannot be made clearer.

If you continue to support the Harry Potter franchise in any way, you are directly funding the removal of trans people's human rights in the UK.

I once saw a pic of Rowling's childhood home in the metro and errr unless there was a boat load of debt on that house she certainly did not grow up poor
just in case anyone has forgotten, JK Rowling used to be poor. She hasn't mentioned it in a couple of days

omg this.
there is way more usage of ableist language and expressions of anti-migrant sentiments in everyday public settings and it makes me so livid.
If you’re not seeing the huge rise in street harassment of people of colour, queer people and disabled people then you basically go from your home to your car to your office and never see people outside your bubble or are wilfully solipsistic

This is a really great article, and I agree with it that community is everything. I basically came out as much to access community as for any more obvious transition benefits; and if you haven’t transed yourself yet I would really encourage you to consider how necessary community is for a life.
Amazing piece by @echomikeromeo.bsky.social:

"if we want to tell stories about the past that not only make historiographical contributions but also help people get healthcare [etc] we must start by ensuring that we are in community ourselves and are responsive to community pressures and needs".

I think fundamentally, the ability to care about the rights of a small and vulnerable minority (of whom you might know no members) is an important sign of whether you are committed to human rights out of principle, or out of mere convenience.
Being nice to trans people really did turn out to be a load bearing part of liberal democracy ey

one thing I think the general public need is to be made aware that ONLINE is not really any different to OFFLINE.

It seems a lot of ppl give behaviours which are harassment or violence a pass because it's "only the Internet" or whatever as if that's something entirely separate from "real life"

I’ve been a defender of the BBC for all of my life, I think, and I have worked in their newsrooms and on other shows and projects. Ever since we were told they were going to go further right to appease right wing people, the whole news department has gone mental.

question for trans and queer scholars!

i know AFAB and AMAB have been largely retired as academic vernacular, what other words do folk use when discribing groups of people in contexts where they are grouped together by percieved sex?
