The sun is bringing the beauty both night and day this week with overnight Aurora's followed by a spectacular sunrise with morning's first light splashing on the underside of a cloud deck over Colorado.

This is accurate. I grew up in LA and lived there all the way through the early 1990s (except for a few years when I was in Northern California for college). I remember the Reagan years well, in fact I mark that as the true beginning of the hell we are currently living in 45 years later.
You can thank the LAPD for creating militarized policing. They used the shootout with the Black Panther’s and the Watts Uprising to justify its existence. Later on they’d use the 1984 Olympics and War on Drugs to further entrench the police as soldier, in equipment and mentality.
I simply refuse to accept that police ever have to look like this. this is just pure cosplay. it should be illegal for cops to be dressed like soldiers going to war.

I watch “reality” tv and play Pokemon Go to drown out the utter hellscape of real life. No apologies, it’s this or a padded cell. Anyhoo, my poor husband gets dragged into my tv shows and barely watches them, but occasionally looks up from whatever he’s doing and comes up with a zinger. 1/

Best thing I’ve seen today.
I might need this 8 foot Bumble to go with my Bumble slippers.

Last night’s view while walking the dog. No Northern Lights but it sure was pretty outside.

I couldn’t see the Northern Lights in South Reno due to heavy cloud cover, but I like the way the sky looked all the same.

I had a root canal yesterday that was complicated and painful. I have to go back to the dentist today to have more work done and I feel sick and sorry for myself. Please send dog, cat, bird, outdoors, any kind of pretty photo will do. Thanks.

I think we level up friendship tomorrow. Not sure if you need the XP, but I am trying to get to 300k for the L80 upgrade. I usually wake up early and was planning to put an egg on and open gifts probably around 6:30 am Pacific time.

Everyone who raped those girls needs to rot in prison. Republican party. Democratic party. Bull Moose party. Doesn’t matter.

Everyone who knew about it and did nothing needs to rot in prison.

Release the files and sort this shit out.

Joyce Carol Oates with another perfect take on the strange case of Elon Musk.
This is the best takedown of Musk I’ve ever read. From a beloved author around my age no less, Joyce Carol Oates.

Jimmy Kimmel’s heartfelt and heartbreaking tribute to his best friend and his show’s band leader, Cleto Escobedo, was one of the most beautiful tributes I have ever seen. Find it on YouTube.

Authoritarianism can only succeed when democracy fails to deliver for working people.

Authoritarian parties can only succeed when the pro-democracy parties fail to fight for working people.

We need a new democracy and a new party system which can represent working people.

Incredulous that anyone believes giving in to a bully works, under any circumstances. Of course it’s going to get worse.
In response to this claim that the "strategy didn't work."

The people were on our side. We were building momentum to help save our democracy. We could have won - the premium increase notices were just starting.

And giving in now will embolden him. Things will likely get worse.

Same.
I started this year as an independent I’m done with the democratic “leadership”

State of Nevada never fails to disappoint. Lifelong Democrat (voted for Carter, yeah I am that old). I will be changing my voter registration to Independent and will never give another dime to the Democratic Party unless and until we see real change in party leadership.

Dear Democratic Senators: if you vote for this selling out of the ACA it will be the end of your careers. Depend upon it. You are there to defend this country against Trump and the fascists, not collude with them. If you become Quislings, you will forever REMAIN Quislings

So beautiful.
This broke me: "...after Dodgers relief pitchers all got Vesia’s jersey number stitched into their caps, every single reliever on the Toronto Blue Jays took a Sharpie to his own hat and wrote #51 on it for Vesia in solidarity."

So thankful for these reminders of humanity's goodness. 💓💓💓
