Like others, I fear the threat of government retribution, political vengeance and an angry right-wing mob. But I know that giving into it will only strengthen Trump and undermine the future of our democracy. Trump wants us to be scared. He wants us to give up — gradually and then suddenly.

Trump gained 95,000 but Harris had 500k fewer votes than Biden in 2020. Similar patterns are appearing in many metro areas. Rather than a Red Wave, it was more of a Blue Wane. Any post mortems need to start with the people who stayed home.

Agree it’s time to rebuild our state’s political parties. I’m sick of party bosses anointing well-connected candidates, and fighting hard to prevent intelligent, caring, independent-thinking individuals from being welcomed into the party.

This coming week we announce more State Assembly candidates for 2025. These candidates are activists in their communities selected and interviewed by a committees of other activists. I’m not part of this process in order to find the best independent candidates - we are doing things differently.

The 109th State League of NJ Municipalities conference began Tuesday in AC, and will draw over 16,000 city & town officials & maybe all of the 10 major candidates for governor.

Primaries are healthy. They create better parties and better candidates. From the beginning I said we would change this state’s politics and help empower w/big resources down ballot candidates that have been blocked by the political machine in NJ.

Fulop, more than any other single factor, is why we will see record-high participation in the 2025 Democratic primary. Voters have real choices + county orgs have no choice but to mobilize because they have no idea how serious a threat these challenges are to their turf in a post-line world.
