Not gonna lie the Bismark arc is real stupid but I do think it's an important part of Haurchefant's death hitting as hard as it does. Like I don't think it's secret genius good writing, just a convenient coincidence.

To be charitable to the 'want wol to be hurt/but not like that's thing, I think the game has been kind of bad, at least lately, at actually giving the wol *space* to be hurt. And I think that space is what people might want out of the hurt.

Incidentally my other silly mostly harmless joke that I personally hate more than anything is no longer available because it was a seasonal event but it was everyone in Limsa Lominsa being incredibly scandalised by the word 'cock' during the year of the rooster heavensturn quests.

So my take on mist is that is that in-universe the word was generally thought to mean the same thing as 'aether' by people who were inclined to look into it because for a long time aether has been the part of it that's measurable. 1/???
