Enjoyed a spot of bank holiday tea picking today at www.dartmoorestatetea.com As well as a wee bit of tasting, which was delectable. Even have my own plant to take home, although may be a few years before domestic production is up & running.

🧵🧪🏆🥇We've done it! We've raised atmospheric CO₂ concentrations to the point where, for the first time in human history, they have exceeded 430 ppm every day for a full week. It had become fairly certain that we'd reach this landmark sometime this month, but even so it's a fairly sobering moment.

Whilst the sun and dry conditions are lovely, and helpful for a lot of farm work, this is also the first year in its history when Riverford's home farm has had to irrigate crops in March. This is worrisome #theclimateischanging

Went to visit a walnut tree today that my granddad planted in 1960. Wonder how many Riverford walnuts we'll be harvesting in 65 years time? Probs won't be me doing it by then.

Utterly shameful - a sickening betrayal of some of the poorest people. And counterproductive too - as if global security isn’t also dependent on efforts to tackle the climate crisis, global poverty, inequality, and humanitarian needs.
