People only apply this standard to density. Sprawl never got that level of foresight. Most infrastructure was thrown together as growth happened. Build early and it’s a boondoggle. Build later and it’s “poor planning.” Density gets judged by rules nothing else ever followed.
Almost every morning I watch the dance on Division between trimet buses, food delivery trucks, garbage trucks, and street maintenance crews and think about how the city didn’t really think through the infrastructure necessary to support high density mixed use neighborhoods.

What is the use case for Apple Maps locking your phone while using walking or transit maps? Is this just an artifact of designing for car directions?

Is anyone documenting the board members and executives of all these companies that are bending the knee to the fascist in the White House? I think we need a record of them so that they never work again.

The US fumbled big here and just handed China a massive win in soft power. By targeting TikTok without offering a real alternative, they pushed millions of Americans to join RedNote out of spite. Instead of protecting us, they boosted China’s cultural and tech influence.

Why are there so many minor streets in LA built like they are freeways? Not every street needs to be a football field wide with slip lanes for turning right.
