I have been neglectful of my BlueSky followers. X (The Everything App(TM)) is still the best place to situation watch unfortunately and I have most been over there. To make up for it, here is a thread of where we currently sit with the latest Israel-Iran conflict:

I’ve been shown unreleased footage of Sunday’s SBU drone attack. I can confirm at least two A-50 AWACS aircraft were struck by drones; the FPV drones landing directly on the radar domes before detonating.

Multiple Tu-22M3s can also be seen struck in the footage.

80 years ago today, May 8th 1945, the German forces in Norway surrendered and we were free once again.

This is our Liberation Day and also our Veterans Day.

@mercoglianos.bsky.social hey, Sal! I can't seem to find your podcast on Apple Podcasts. Is it Spotify-only?

For those interested in the upcoming Norwegian frigate procurement, @corporalfrisk.bsky.social has had a rather excellent first hand look at the French contender (and, with T26, one of the two likely front runners in the competition): the FDI.

Well worth the read!

Et enfin, amis Français, je vous enjoins à suivre @corporalfrisk.bsky.social, et plus largement à vous intéresser davantage à ce que pensent, disent et écrivent nos voisins et alliés nordiques sur les questions de défense (au sens large).

85 years today since Norway's day of infamy, April 9th 1940.

The next two months saw active fighting. Then came 5 years of Nazi occupation, with the struggle for freedom continuing from abroad, in exile.

Many hard lessons from that period, and the lead up, remains valid today.

First out is an article for Naval News. Come for the analysis of its fit for Norway as the only one of the candidates currently moving under its own power and with free delivery slots according to requested schedule. Stay for reveal that Norway isn’t the only country interested in the FDI 😎

@dhnexon.bsky.social just read this on the inexplicably strong pull Putin obviously exerts on Trump. It makes more sense to me than any other explanation I've seen!

I got impression of a sudden change on Ukraine-policy after sudden ☎️ w/Putin. Thoughts?

@aviationintel.bsky.social greatly looking forwards to your thoughts on NGAD, as hinted at in piece on J-36.

Is ‘aerial cruiser’ (~J-36) capability gap vs. B-21 enough to keep both platforms?

Struggling to make sense of US strategy: NGAD → paused, subsonic B-21 → full swing, UCAVs, tankers MIA 🤯

@valkstrategy.bsky.social still ruminating on J-36. I especially struggle to make sense of the NGAD pause. Forgoing range + supersonic speed now seems like a *big* bet. Is it too simple to say that more NGADs & fewer B-21s would make more sense than the other way around? Thoughts welcome.

@mgemancipation.bsky.social unrepentant news junkie here (👋🏻). Iraq 2003 was my coming of age. Been thinking about it a lot lately (and reading your blogs!). Suspect this failure is much more relevant today than its lack of prominence would suggest. More blogs on this topic welcome!

@valkstrategy.bsky.social first thought re third engine w/top inlet on Chinese fighter/bomber: turbofan for range? A crude three-stream adaptive cycle? Or is that silly?

@davidallengreen.bsky.social I think you’ve blogged something about statements being meaningless if the reverse argument is nonsensical. Like: no politician will say «we won’t prioritise NHS» out loud, yet plenty seek credit for prioritizing it. Any tips for search terms?
