The discovery law the police have objected to for 5 years is a requirement that cops turn over all evidence that potentially exonerates an accused criminal. It's *really* insidious that they've lumped this in with bail reform.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch keeps insisting that 5-year-old discovery law reforms are driving a recidivist crime wave, causing cases to be "dismissed en masse" on "technicalities."
It's a big claim, and one for which she has offered zero evidence.
